The Ron Wood Family Resource Center announced that Executive Director Joyce Buckingham will retire within the next few months after nearly two decades of service (she joined in 2006 and has worked over 30 years in social services).

The Board is now searching for her successor to continue expanding programs for children, families, and individuals in Carson City and nearby rural areas.

Local businessman Ted Rupert donated a 2004 Infiniti FX35 to Carson High student Alaze Solis Ramirez during a school event—he said his gift aimed to ease her family's burden of sharing one vehicle.

Vice Principal Joseph Billings said the donation recognized Alaze's hard work and is set to improve her daily commute.

Carson City police arrested 47-year-old Justin Jackson Monday morning on felony domestic battery with strangulation charges after a domestic dispute left a victim with red marks on both sides of the neck—Jackson said any marks came from clothing hangers—and he is held on a $7,500 bail.
