ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The winter of 2025 brought less snowfall than last year and record-setting 2023, but measurements from Phillips Station and Mt. Rose show that Eastern Sierra, Northern Nevada and Northern California ended near average as snowmelt began. Mixed results were seen in Eastern Nevada—mountain areas recorded above average levels while Southern Nevada is expected to have a lean water year—raising concerns for regional water supply.  CarsonNow

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada announced a fall prevention program that will install grab bars & ramps and upgrade lighting to help seniors and individuals with disabilities stay safe in their homes. The nonprofit will also share education and awareness tips to reduce fall risks.  CarsonNow
  • On April 10th, a Carson High ninth grader named Iris Ibarra Montes saved her father's life by performing CPR after he collapsed from a medical emergency at home using skills learned in her Health Science CTE course.
