EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eagle Valley Middle School students planted native Jeffrey and Ponderosa pines in the Davis Burn Area in Washoe Valley last week—working with the Sugar Pine Foundation as part of their Green Biz Kids program that builds environmental skills.  News4
  • Carson Montessori Charter School raised its Nevada School Performance Framework rating to four stars for 2024-25 from two stars in 2022-23 and three stars in 2023-24, with gains in English language arts and math and lower chronic absenteeism. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers narrowly sent the film tax credit expansion bill to committee after a surprise procedural vote thrown into dispute by Assemblymember La Rue Hatch—this bill offers $1.4 billion over 15 years to support the planned Summerlin Studios near Town Center Drive and Flamingo Road. Gov. Lombardo called the special session to address unfinished work and boost jobs across Nevada.  News4
