Carson Valley Community Food Closet will reopen Monday to help residents affected by the federal shutdown and paused SNAP benefits.
The service now includes Alpine County residents, and a drive-through food distribution is scheduled Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at 1251 Waterloo Lane — a move to support those needing food assistance.

On Oct. 23, the Genoa Bar closed at 3:30 p.m. for overnight filming of My Friend Jim, a movie starring Keith David and Rob Lowe.
It reopened the next morning on Oct. 24—residents also saw Stone Cold Steve Austin acting as the bartender during the shoot.
