Good morning, Carson City. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 17th of October.

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A high bear activity sign was installed at Mountain Street Trailhead in west Carson City on Wednesday after officials received reports of a mama bear and two cubs getting into an unsecured trashcan. State wildlife officials said the local homeowner’s association is replacing the container with a bear-resistant one—an effort driven by a seasonal rise in bear activity.  The Nevada Appeal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Starting in 2026, Nevadans will face a 26% rise in health care premiums as COVID-era subsidies end at the end of 2025—about 110,000 people using Nevada Health Link, especially in rural areas, may see higher costs.
