- ➤ The Virginia Truckee Railroad will offer festive train rides for families from the historic 1870 depot in Virginia City starting the Friday after Thanksgiving through Dec.21. The 50-minute Candy Cane Express trip brings passengers to Santa’s Workshop for treats and readings, and the Train O’ Lights offers an evening journey with thousands of LED displays—free parking is available. - ➤ Northern Nevada Veterans have planned a series of events focused on suicide prevention and veteran support including a resource fair and the Veterans Voice radio show airing today at 4:05 p.m. Virginia City will hold its Veterans Day parade on November 11—while federal shutdown measures delay VA programs and benefits. - ➤ Twenty-two unions have formed the Nevada Jobs Now PAC to back film tax credits for the proposed Summerlin Studios that would create thousands of jobs, while a union for state and local workers—joined by environmental and education groups—calls the plan a waste of public money. Governor Lombardo will recall lawmakers soon to debate the proposal along with other issues. News4

- ➤ Tomorrow at 7 p.m. on home ice, the Tahoe Knight Monsters will start their second season with a three-game set against the Idaho Steelheads (Saturday’s game is at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s at 3 p.m.).
