- ➤ The Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation is promoting dark skies to draw stargazers and boost tourism by partnering with communities to meet the Starry Skies Certification Program — officials said the program will cut light pollution to help wildlife and local businesses. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ Western Nevada College freshman Jessica Resong earned a Girl Scouts Gold Star Award for her project on reducing light pollution. - ➤ Carson City officials announced that several road closures and lane restrictions will be in effect next week, Oct. 6–12, due to road and utility work. The plan includes closures at Mills Park access, State Street and William Street, plus lane restrictions affecting citywide roadway striping, Baker Drive, Boeing Way, College Parkway and other locations.
