- ➤ The Nevada Appeal won 24 awards on Saturday at the Nevada Press Association ceremony in Fallon—reporter Scott Neuffer won six awards, and other staff earned top honors for their work in education, art and design. - ➤ Fremont Elementary in Carson City regained a three-star rating for 2024-25 on Sept. 15 after falling to one star the previous year, according to the Nevada Department of Education. - ➤ Gov. Lombardo settled an ethics issue by paying $5,000 to the state general fund after he used his sheriff badge in campaign materials and had pending legal cases dismissed. The Nevada Commission on Ethics approved the settlement by a 5—3 vote on the non-willful violation. News4
- ➤ NV Energy filed a joint application with the Public Utilities Commission on September 5 to seek approval for its 2025 Distributed Resources Plan update for the integrated resource plan. The Commission scheduled a prehearing conference for October 15 at 10:00 a.m.—interested parties must file petitions by October 8 and request remote participation by October 9. The Nevada Appeal
- ➤ On Monday, the Business Council of Douglas County held its 33rd Critical Issues Conference at Tahoe Blue Event Center and awarded six leaders including Congressman Mark Amodei and former Sen.
