CULTURE NEWS

  • The annual Polar Express Train Ride by Virginia & Truckee Railway returns to Carson City Eastgate Depot from November 14 to December 23—families and friends will board a historic diesel train to enjoy a fully staged journey with festive music, costumed characters, and a North Pole stop—while each child receives a silver sleigh bell.  FOX Reno

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Carson City Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the community center to review a request to abandon a public easement on North Lompa Ranch that will help realign a future extension of North Lompa Lane to the Airport Road/Butti Way intersection—residents have raised concerns about waterway impacts on another pending request. Supervisors will also examine an HR report that shows an increase of 10 full-time jobs since FY24 and consider a $55,000 contract for courthouse renovation preconstruction services.  The Nevada Appeal

  • Sierra Lutheran High School football finished an eight-man season with a 4 win record and will switch to 11-man play for its final four games—its first test is set for Saturday at Carson High School with a 7 p.m. kickoff against Loyalton.  The Nevada Appeal
