- ➤ Carson City Park Rangers will lead three free programs this month – Read with a Ranger on Sept. 12 at the Carson City Library where kids learn about black bears, Tahoe Bear Fest on Sept. 20 at Spooner Lake State Park with wildlife experts and hands-on activities, and a coyote walk on Sept. 20 at Silver Saddle Ranch that requires online registration and adult supervision for minors. - ➤ Carson City's Symphony is offering free after-school music classes for local students at five locations with enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis — Youth Chorus begins on Sept. 18 and Youth Strings start on Sept. 9. - ➤ Carson City Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the community center board room at 851 E. William St.—to review revised courthouse plans that let the Clerk-Recorder’s Office remain temporarily, provide shared temporary space for a new justice of the peace, and relocate the Department of Alternative Sentencing in 2027 while finishing improvements by the end of 2029—which may save about $1.5 million. - ➤ The Bureau of Land Management Sierra Front Field Office is working with University of Nevada-Reno to use 1,200 sheep for vegetation management at Winters Ranch in Washoe Valley today.
