Carson City Park Rangers will lead three free programs this month – Read with a Ranger on Sept.

12 at the Carson City Library where kids learn about black bears, Tahoe Bear Fest on Sept. 20 at Spooner Lake State Park with wildlife experts and hands-on activities, and a coyote walk on Sept. 20 at Silver Saddle Ranch that requires online registration and adult supervision for minors. Participants should come prepared with water, closed-toe shoes, and layers for these outdoor adventures.

The Carson City Senior Center is hosting a busy September line-up — featuring a Hands-Only CPR class today at 2 p.m., a dance party on September 6, National Park tales on September 9, a Medicare workshop on September 12, and flu shots with a talk by Army veteran Caleb Cage on September 16. Other events include a Chat GPT workshop on September 18, a scam prevention session on September 26, and a fall canvas paint party on October 7 — all free at the center.

Carson City's Symphony is offering free after-school music classes for local students at five locations with enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis — Youth Chorus begins on Sept.
