- ➤ Walley's Hot Springs was evacuated just before noon on Friday when occupants detected electrical smoke at 11:44 a.m.—firefighters from East Fork and Tahoe Douglas responded immediately—and they shut down the Genoa property's HVAC unit while Southwest Gas and NV Energy arrived as the manager was advised to call a technician. - ➤ U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei said he will seek reelection after speaking at a Carson City Chamber of Commerce roundtable on August 14 where he discussed H.R.1 and its effects on small businesses and clean energy. The longtime representative—who is a 1976 Carson High grad and serves on key committees—added that he will address issues like the gambler’s tax and Medicaid changes as he continues his work. - ➤ The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit reminds residents to follow Nevada law for OHVs. Officers say operators must register vehicles and use approved recreation areas—travel on public roads may cause arrest or citation. The Nevada Appeal
