ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters from Carson City, Lake Tahoe and East Fork responded yesterday to a house fire at 928 Foothill Road where the only occupant fled after black smoke plus heavy flames were reported, and Foothill Road was closed while crews protected a propane tank and staged engines to safeguard nearby homes during the second structure fire in less than 24 hours. - ➤ Juan Martinez-Angel Jr., a Carson City resident, was sentenced on July 8 on two battery charges after shooting two individuals; he received consecutive prison terms of 24 to 60 months for each charge + restitution of $65,964.86. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ Carson City's Board of Supervisors approved measures on Thursday for an apartment project in Lompa Ranch North that included abandoning a 28,102‑square‑foot roadway easement along Airport Road and rezoning land for multifamily use, and they said the action will not affect nearby wetlands since any new roadwork must get Army Corps approval — addressing local concerns about development. The board also discontinued the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee and allocated Community Development Block Grant funding to repair the Community Center roof. The Nevada Appeal
