- ➤ Foresters in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest are searching for a fir that meets strict standards to be the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree. Nine finalist trees from the Carson Range and Spring Mountains will be reviewed by Jim Kaufmann, and the chosen tree will be cut in October, then shown at the Nevada Day Parade before its journey to Washington D.C.
