ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Emergency crews, including Carson City Fire Department — sheriff’s deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol, responded early Friday afternoon to a rollover near the I-580 ramp and Arrowhead where an adult male was injured and taken to the hospital by ground ambulance while motorists faced delays.  CarsonNow

CULTURE NEWS

  • At Dangberg Historic Park, McAvoy Layne - portraying Mark Twain - will serve as master of ceremonies for the first Summer Chautauqua Showcase on July 25-26. The event will feature historical portrayals by local actors with performances starting at 10 a.m. and tickets priced at $15 for adults while youth are free.  The Record Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Carson City School District will hold a job fair Tuesday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Board Room of its 1402 W. King St. office—offering various full-time licensed teacher roles and substitute positions via Edustaff for candidates with a high school diploma.  The Nevada Appeal
  • Briggs Electric is sponsoring the Live Auction at Western Nevada College’s Reach for the Stars Gala on Aug. 2 at the Joe Dini Library—demonstrating its ongoing support for local education and workforce development. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Carson City will hold a public hearing on July 30 at 1:30 p.m. in Conference Room —A— at the Community Development office on 108 E. Proctor Street. The hearing will consider a permit application from William and Angela Miles to build a 713-square-foot attached accessory dwelling unit on a Single Family One Acre property at 1743 Wellington East.  The Nevada Appeal
  • The Public Utilities Commission received a joint petition on July 9 from its Regulatory Operations Staff and RaPiD Construction regarding alleged violations of Nevada's One Call Law. Interested persons may file written comments by August 6 and review the petition at the Commission office in Carson City (or on the website).  The Nevada Appeal
  • The Carson City Planning Commission will hold public hearings on July 30 at 3:00 p.m. at the Community Center’s Crowell Board Room to review multiple special use permit requests for projects ranging from equipment storage and childcare to a charter school and other development—applicants include Mears Pipeline, Stephen and Angelita Perry, the Carson Montessori Charter School, Building Concepts Inc., the State of Nevada, and Wingman Medical LLC. This meeting will allow discussion and possible action on each proposal.  The Nevada Appeal
