- ➤ Carson City School District now asks community members and businesses to donate gift cards valued between $20 and $100 by Aug. 15 for its McKinney-Vento Students in Transition program that supports students in unstable housing—donations can be dropped off at the district office on W. - ➤ The Nevada Department of Education, WestEd and APA reviewed over 200 statutory reports and recommended cutting 26 and streamlining 22 to ease paperwork for teachers. - ➤ Attorney General Aaron Ford’s office announced that Nevada was excluded from a national plan to distribute machine-gun conversion devices after a lawsuit filed by Ford and 16 state attorneys general. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Rare Breed Triggers confirmed they would not sell or return these devices in Nevada—nor in 15 other states—citing their link to increased gun violence.
