Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 6th of July.
Good morning, Carson City.
🏘️ Community
Last weekend, Carson City volunteer Emma Doty led a restoration of the painted 'C' on C Hill by coordinating rock moving and two coats of paint provided by Silver Elite Painting & Nolan Painting.
Volunteers completed all work before Fourth of July celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.
The Box Store, Capitol Auto & Diesel and Carson City Florist have joined the Walk About William Street campaign that runs through July 20.
Hosted by Carson City’s Community and Economic Development with over 25 local partners, the event invites visitors to answer bonus questions to enter a prize drawing.
🎭 Culture
On May 2, JT Basque Bar & Dining Room introduced the first canned picon punch, a Basque American cocktail crafted by bartender Etienne Lekumberry and Nevada Distillery owner Joe Cannella.
The drink's rise follows its recent designation as the official state drink after production began in Reno.
🏛️ Government
Carson City will see several road closures and lane restrictions this week for road work and utility updates.
Details include nightly closures on 5th Street and planned detours for the Downtown Revival Car Show on July 11 and the Levitt AMP concert series on Saturdays — follow detour signs.
