ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Late Thursday night into early Friday morning a fire broke out on C-Hill in Carson City and burned 50 acres with zero percent containment—residents on Terrace Street and Crain Street were warned to prepare for evacuation. The Nevada Appeal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Professor Skelly explains that sticky honeydew on trees is caused by pests such as aphids and scales that suck sap and leave a residue which can damage nearby paint and attract ants and wasps. She advises homeowners to wash their trees with a strong hose jet and use insecticidal soap—steps that work best during warm weather and before pests reproduce. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ Carson City Health and Human Services received many questions about ticks and reminded residents that ticks can spread serious diseases (Lyme disease, relapsing fever, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Colorado tick fever) and advised anyone with bite symptoms to see a doctor. The Nevada Appeal
