COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A 4th of July FUNdraiser Golf Tournament will be held on July 4 starting at 2:30 p.m.—participants will compete on the green and later enjoy dinner and VIP fireworks viewing, with all proceeds benefiting senior transportation and support programs.  CarsonNow

CULTURE NEWS

  • Front Porch will host a show with renegade bluegrass, roots country, and acoustic music at the Polecat Summer Series in the parking lot at Polecat Tavern in Carson City on June 28th at 6:30 p.m. —tables and chairs will be set up outside—guests may bring their own chairs and sunscreen.  CarsonNow
  • Today, Saltwater Tavern hosts Classic Vinyl Live FX music from 6—9 pm, drawing local fans to a unique live performance that mixes classic sounds with modern energy.  CarsonNow

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, 75 adults in the Carson High School Adult Education Program earned diplomas at Northern Nevada Correctional Center and 24 of them received their GEDs during a ceremony with family present. Officials said the graduation was a key step in rehabilitation—many graduates plan to change their lives by returning to work and supporting their families.  The Nevada Appeal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Carson City Planning Commission approved the five-year review of Cinderlite’s operation in north Carson after noting outdated road repairs and flooding issues on Goni Road—commissioners said the city should have used funds from Cinderlite for the repairs as promised and added new requirements for a drainage study by Oct 1 and improvements by Nov 1. They also approved a permit for an attached dwelling unit, recommended abandoning a 28,102-square-foot roadway easement on Airport Road, and granted a special use permit for a residential unit at 2580 N.   • Carson City Health and Human Services urges residents to stay safe in extreme summer heat by drinking water, avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest hours, and seeking cool indoor spaces—especially important for older adults, young children, and those with health conditions.  The Nevada Appeal
