  • Today the annual Best of Carson Valley awards open for nominations, which will run until July 13—nominations can be submitted daily at bestofcarsonvalley.com to help select top local businesses.  The Record Courier
  • A multi family garage sale will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at 1428 Northill Dr. in Carson City—families will offer collectibles, tools, antiques, and toys.  The Record Courier

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A third structure was reported lost to the Conner Fire Tuesday morning from the National Interagency Coordination Center report— the wildfire now spans 17,714 acres and is being fought by 387 firefighters with full containment expected by July 4.  The Record Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • On May 2, a customer’s wallet was stolen from Raley’s on South Carson Street, and the sheriff’s office seeks help identifying two suspects—one last seen in a light blue shirt, black jeans, black and white tennis shoes and a black hat and the other in a gray sweatshirt, black shorts, black shoes and a blue hat, with both wearing glasses and linked to a dark colored Nissan SUV.  The Nevada Appeal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indivisible Northern Nevada and the Sierra Club Toiyabe Chapter protested Tuesday outside Reno’s federal building—after a Senate ruling on Monday blocked the proposed sale of millions of acres of federal land. Senator Mike Lee then described plans to remove U.S. Forest Service land and reduce BLM land offered in the bill.  News4
  • Carson City Supervisors adopted two ordinances on June 20 that update the Downtown Neighborhood Improvement District and change zoning to allow a planned unit development for 240 townhome residences near Antler Drive. The measures were passed by votes including those of Stacey Giomi, Lisa Schuette, and Mayor Lori Bagwell and are set to be published today—ensuring the changes become part of the public record.  The Nevada Appeal
  • Jamie Jeanballard filed a petition in Carson City to legally change her name to Jamie Jean Andrews— the notice, dated June 20, states that anyone objecting must file a written objection within 10 days and that the name change is not for fraudulent purposes.  The Nevada Appeal
