  • Dr. Josh Blonde from the Stewart Indian School Community Center & Museum joined Alisabeth Mitchell to discuss the Father’s Day Powwow in Carson City — the event began Friday and will continue through Sunday.  FOX Reno

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Nevada Division of Forestry announced eight students as winners of its 2025 Youth Range Camp Scholarship contest, including one from Carson High + whose scholarship covers the registration fee for a weeklong camp in eastern Nevada. The camp, a tradition since 1961, teaches high school students about wildland fire ecology, plant identification, soil science, and watershed health + offering hands-on learning in natural resource management.  CarsonNow

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Carson City parks officials are investigating tree decline in several areas caused by insect infestation + disease, with reports of problems in trees such as flowering pears, plums, and oaks. They are sampling soil and consulting experts, and results due in 2 to 4 weeks will guide plans for treatment and possible replacements.  The Nevada Appeal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo vetoed a voter ID bill that would have required a photo ID at the polls—he said the measure did not secure mail ballots. The bipartisan bill passed minutes before the Legislature adjourned on June 3rd and will be revisited as voters consider Question 7 in 2026.  FOX Reno
