- ➤ At Dangberg Historic Park, Mary Ann Jung will portray pirate queen Grace O'Malley at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday — tickets cost $15 for those 17 and older while youth attend free. - ➤ Carson City Clerk William Scott Hoen filed proposed ordinances on June 5 that are available for public review at the Clerk's Office at 885 East Musser Street, Suite 1032 + a public hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. on June 20 in the Robert Bob Crowell Board Room to consider changes to improvement districts and zoning. - ➤ Carson City approved a two-year contract for Glen Martel to be the new city manager starting July 1—Martel will replace Nancy Paulson, who retires on June 30, and his base pay will start at $228,948.95 with a 5 percent raise in 2026. The board also approved several consent agenda items, including funding for courthouse redesign, a settlement resolution, and a planned unit development for 240 townhomes. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ Carson City Health and Human Services and the Nevada Department of Agriculture have launched their first tick surveillance program to protect residents from tick-borne diseases as summer begins. Residents are advised to check for ticks after outdoor activities and to bring any collected ticks in sealed bags—labeled with the date and location—to the CCHHS office for free testing.
