  • The Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program is giving $120 in grocery support per eligible child as school meals end; benefits began last Friday for auto-enrolled students in Carson City and beyond. Up to 280,000 children are expected to be served—new cards will be mailed within two to three weeks to families with updated school information.  CarsonNow

CULTURE NEWS

  • Polecat Tavern will host a summer music series on Saturday evenings from 6:30–9:30 p.m. starting June 7 with Keith Alan Barnett and the Lonesome Polecat Band, and the series will run through August 23 with a final open mic event on August 30.  The Nevada Appeal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western Nevada College celebrated 168 record-tying Jump Start graduates on May 19 in Carson City—marking a milestone for students earning both high school and associate degrees. A second ceremony will be held in Fallon on May 21—continuing the program that lets high school, academy, and homeschool students earn college credit.  CarsonNow
  • Western Nevada College celebrated 595 graduates by holding a commencement ceremony yesterday in Carson City and planning a second one in Fallon on May 21.
