- ➤ A Carson City man, Da’Lecs Smith (25), is held without bail after being accused of open murder in an April 30 shooting near the Blue Bull bar, and his two-day preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sept. 25 and 26 at Carson City Justice Court where he could face life in prison without parole if convicted. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Lombardo threatened to veto the education budget if charter school teacher pay raises are not included, as lawmakers dispute oversight in the final weeks of the session. Principal Eric Perez of High Desert Montessori said the change is needed—charter schools now form the state’s second-largest district—to ensure salaries match those of public school teachers. News4
