Xaraya Fristed, a Douglas High School graduate who learned horseshoeing at the Idaho Horseshoeing School, started Right as Rain Farrier Services to help local horse owners—she partners with her husband Benjamin Cox to serve Carson Valley and Reno.

Silver State Storytellers is hosting the Moon Rocks Sci-Fi Short Film Competition in Carson City that begins on May 21 and requires films to be submitted by June 4.

The films will be showcased at Brewery Arts Center on June 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.—ticket prices are $15 for the 2 p.m. screening, $20 for the 7 p.m. screening, and $25 for both.

A Master Gardener pollinator-friendly landscape plant sale will be held on May 31 at the Carson City Community Garden at 1044 Beverly Drive from 9 a.m. to noon—supporting UNR’s horticulture programs—led by Extension staff and Master Gardener volunteers.
