  • Cracker Box, a long-time Carson City diner celebrating 45 years of service, will offer 45% off dine-in meals on Tuesday, May 13 to thank loyal customers. Opened in 1980 by Jerry Massad, the eatery serves breakfast and lunch from scratch from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 402 E. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Carson City emergency responders attended a two-vehicle crash at South Carson and Colorado Street at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday — early reports of a pedestrian turned out to be mistaken as traffic was diverted and no injuries were confirmed.  CarsonNow

  • Capital City Arts Initiative is presenting the Fable and Myths exhibit at Western Nevada College’s Bristlecone Gallery in Carson City from May 14 to Sept. 10. The show features artworks by Sue Cotter and Elaine Parks — it opens with an artists’ reception on May 14 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. during regular gallery hours.  CarsonNow
  • An 1884 uncirculated Morgan silver dollar donated by Northern Nevada Coin is being raffled by the Friends of the Nevada State Museum to support its community and educational programs—raffle tickets cost $5 and are available at the museum on 600 N Carson St. The coin, valued at about $350 in a collector case with a numbered certificate, will be drawn on August 16 at the Carson City Museum Coin Show.  CarsonNow

  • Douglas High School senior Stella Rae Bradley won first place in the public speaking event at the Jobs for American Graduates Career and Development Conference Tomorrow Starts Today held in Las Vegas in April & she plans to attend Western Nevada College to study psychology & continue in the JAG program.  The Record Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials announced multiple road closures and lane restrictions in Carson City from May 12 to 18 due to construction, pavement patching, and utility work. The closures will affect sections of 2nd Street, Center Drive, Gentry Lane, and multi-use paths, with detours at intersections such as Menlo Drive and Airport Road (some closures extend into June).  The Nevada Appeal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Carson High School track athletes earned spots in the state meet in Las Vegas next weekend—senior Anne Davis won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.78 and Sawyer Macy won the 3,200-meter race in 9:43.11. Both the girls' and boys' 4x800 relay teams qualified by finishing third at the regional meet at Douglas High School.  The Nevada Appeal
  • Douglas High School track and field athletes have earned multiple state qualifying spots for next weekend's Class 5A meet in Las Vegas—boosting their competitive opportunities. Freshman Bryani Ono qualified in long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 2 inches while relay teams and individual runners Luke Davis and Grace Strabala-Karosich also secured spots—setting up a strong season finish.  The Record Courier
