- ➤ Simerson Construction finished restoring 200 feet of the Sutro Tunnel by the end of April, and the Friends of Sutro Tunnel plus the Dayton Chamber of Commerce will hold a grand opening celebration on June 7 with guided tours, a poker tournament and food to mark the milestone. The work involved using custom-milled timbers to support the arch while allowing airflow and highlights the tunnel's historic role in Dayton, Carson City and Nevada. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ Theresa Yancy Benson traveled from Clark County—reaching Carson City on Wednesday—to join 70 supporters at the Nevada State Legislature Building for the Capital Turn Up rally hosted by the Mass Liberation Project Nevada, which focused on bills like AB91, AB291, and AB321 to help formerly incarcerated people. Benson, whose husband spent 25 years in prison, said she attended to have her voice heard as Assemblyman Jovan Jackson encouraged others to share their stories. News4
- ➤ Assembly Speaker Steven Yeager introduced bill AB 500 to create a Nevada Payments Bank that would process credit card transactions and reduce fees for consumers and small businesses. The bill, which passed its first committee and awaits further fiscal and regulatory review before Gov. Joe Lombardo may sign it, could save costs—benefiting the state General Fund—if approved.
