- ➤ Carson Valley Middle School held a class teaching sourdough baking with Sheri Karosich's 140-year-old starter last month. - ➤ Carson City School District asks parents to update student information online for the 2026-27 school year; students must be 5-years-old by Aug. 1 for kindergarten and eligible 4-year-olds may apply for Pre-K (meeting federal income guidelines), with required documents submitted in person from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CarsonNow
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Carson City released 2,400 grazing sheep on sunny hillsides to reduce wildfire risk, with a second group grazing behind the Greenhouse Garden Center on Saturday. The 20-year program began after a major fire and remains a trusted community tradition. FOX Reno
