- ➤ Carson City School District will convert early release days on April 23, May 14 and May 28 into full school days—making up for lost time from a Feb. 13 snow day required by a Nevada Attorney General opinion—and no other end-of-year changes are planned. The Nevada Appeal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Carson City School District CFO Spencer Winward said on Tuesday that after a $2.7M transfer from Senate Bill 231 funds, the 2025-26 tentative budget still shows a $3.5M deficit even though total general fund revenue is now set at $83.5M — current expenditures have risen to $88.2M. He said the district will file its tentative budget with the Nevada Department of Taxation by April 15 and will update funding plans as capital projects progress. The Nevada Appeal
- ➤ Carson City Board of Supervisors will meet Thursday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room at the Community Center on 851 E. William St—where they will review award presentations, HR insurance proposals, a public works easement for NV Energy, and grant applications including a new drug incinerator for the Sheriff’s Office. The meeting will also cover a cultural update from the Carson City Cultural Commission and staff instructions on pending state legislation. CarsonNow
- ➤ On Friday, the Assembly Commerce and Labor Committee advanced the Paid Family Medical Leave Act to expand leave benefits for Nevada workers. AB 388 will lower the work requirement from 12 months to 90 days — and extend leave from eight weeks to 12 weeks — to help employees manage both family care and personal health needs. News4
