ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hydrologist Jeff Anderson said that while an average year of rain in 2024 was unusual, 2025 became even more so as most wet weather fell in the spring and warm temperatures caused early snowmelt—leaving snowpack levels near normal at Mount Rose and Carson Pass. The Carson Water Subconservancy District is asking locals to email their guesses for the annual peak flow at the Carson River gauge by 5 p.m. April 15.  The Record Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nevada Gov. Lombardo announced his Safe Streets and Neighborhoods Act in Carson City Tuesday to strengthen state criminal laws by lowering the felony threshold, increasing penalties for repeat offenders and ending diversion courts for crimes against children and the elderly—efforts that critics say will raise incarceration rates and cost the state millions in future budget cycles.  News4

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Carson City's real estate expert Jim Valentine explained that buyers can gain an edge when multiple offers come in by having cash ready and shortening approval times — these measures can make offers more attractive to sellers.
