- ➤ At its March 26 meeting, the Churchill County School Board hired Michael Walker as assistant superintendent and he will start his one-year contract on July 1 to replace Stacey Cooper who will leave at the end of June (Superintendent Derild Parsons said Walker’s broad experience in education will benefit the district). - ➤ Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space said Spanish Springs Construction will build six new pickleball courts at Mills Park starting April 7 as part of a roughly $1 million project that will replace the old tennis courts; the courts and nearby areas will be closed until the work finishes by Sept. 1.
