- ➤ Casa Grande, a new movie by ESX Entertainment and Warner Bros was filmed across Western Nevada from Carson Valley to Washoe City—scenes were shot at Genoa Livestock and the Bank Saloon in Carson City. Ninety crew members stayed in the area—undisclosed Carson locations will host more filming before the movie is released by late this year or early next. The Record Courier

- ➤ The state cut child care help for 5,500 kids when COVID funds ran out, which left about 250 children each week without assistance. New rules now require families to meet lower income limits and state offices will take over case management starting June 30 for southern areas and in 2026 for northern areas—steps taken to conform to the federal grant budget. More than 20 residents voiced worries about overdevelopment as commissioners approved changes to zoning and projects like an 8-foot wall near a drive-through—plans that do not include the downtown square project—while adding new storage proposals.
