- ➤ Kristi Haworth, a Carson City caretaker, was arrested on March 14 after an investigation found she abused an 83-year-old resident at a memory care facility—she faces charges of elder abuse, criminal neglect, and battery and is held on $5,000 bail. FOX Reno
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Carson City School District was one of eight chosen nationwide for the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Peer-to-Peer Jazz Education Program that served all band and choir students - including Carson High juniors and eighth graders from Carson Middle and Eagle Valley Middle. The program was held at the Carson City Community Center on March 10 and 11 and featured Antonio Hart, Lisa Henry and Dr. JB Dyas - they led workshops and performances that taught students the basics of jazz. - ➤ Two new Nevada Legislature bills aim to expand sex offender registration to include solicitation of prostitution and to protect victims and witnesses involved in prostitution—legislators discussed the proposals during a Carson City Judiciary Committee meeting on Friday. News4
- ➤ The Carson City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on March 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Community Center Crowell Boardroom at 851 East William Street to review a draft Master Plan update and several special use permit requests for projects including a screening wall, a metal storage container for an airpark, a guest building that exceeds size limits, an outdoor storage facility, and a fence modification for setback issues — additional items include a tentative PUD for single‐family townhomes and a subdivision map amendment for the Ash Canyon area.
