Authorities in Storey, Carson City and Douglas counties responded to school threat reports that emerged Tuesday, including a bomb threat at Virginia City High School and a generic electronic alert at Carson High School, with officials confirming the threats were not credible and investigations ongoing.
🎓 Education
Carson City schools reopened Wednesday after a generic high school threat was deemed not credible—Carson High’s brief hold was lifted as law enforcement maintains enhanced security while NTAC investigates.
On Jan. 15, the school board discussed consolidating Carson Valley Middle and Pau-Wa-Lu Middle—with changes to grade levels to save nearly $2 million—and will review scenarios at a Jan.
27 meeting, with a town hall on Jan. 28 and a decision on Feb. 3.
🏈 Sports
The Douglas High School girls basketball team won a 50-44 game against Carson High Wednesday evening after a 13-0 run in the third quarter, with freshman Kimber David scoring 13 points.
They will play Damonte Ranch at home on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Douglas High School boys basketball beat Carson 75-62 Wednesday night at Carson High School, led by junior Jace Tretton who scored 23 points.
The team built a late surge to turn a narrow lead into a secured victory.
