- ➤ The Food Bank of Northern Nevada and 140 local partners are hosting the annual Souper Bowl of Caring on Feb. 6 at Smith's off South Meadows Parkway from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., + collecting canned goods to support local food pantries facing rising costs and growing need. News4

- ➤ The Minden Human Bean drive-through coffee stand (off U.S. Highway 395) is scheduled to close Friday while its Carson City location at 3300 Highway 50 East remains open today. Franchise owner Kevin Gustafson said some Minden employees will transfer to the Carson shop. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ Western Nevada College offers multiple spring enrollment options including course additions until Jan. 26 and late registration until Feb. 13, with late classes beginning March 23. Nursing applicants can schedule their TEAS exam between Jan. 28 and March 4 as the college hosts scholarship events and opens FAFSA for 2026-27. The Nevada Appeal

- ➤ During January’s National Radon Action Month, residents in Carson City can pick up free at-home radon test kits offered by the University of Nevada, Reno until Feb. 28 (zone one area). Testing is the first step to prevent health risks linked to radon exposure. News4
