December Long Pose: Narrative Portrait

About this event

In this class we will work from a live model over 12 hours (3 sessions), in a long-pose format (one pose for the whole session), to build technique in creating a life-like representation of the subject. The model will be costumed and posed with props, to create a narrative scene and explore storytelling in our work. While the focus will be portrait, you are also welcome to draw or paint the whole figure. I will cover thumb-nailing and composition, proportion and structure, rendering realistic form, and mixing lifelike skin tones. You are welcome to bring any drawing or painting medium to approach the subject, and I will offer individualized feedback and support during the process, with light demoing/lecture at the start of each session. This is a group class and will not have more than 8 students. Easels, seating and a small table for your supplies are all provided.

The dates of this session are December 3, 10 and 17
